Bio

Pieces of my writing have been published in anthologies as well as magazines such as This, Ricepaper, Understorey, filling Station, Plentitude, and TOPIA. Humour, empathy, and genre-bending help me consider issues of migration, colonialism, and heteropatriarchy through short fiction, literary prose, and poetry.

Since 2018 I have worked as an Acquisitions and Development Editor with Fernwood Publishing. In 2023, I received the Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence from Editors Canada.

I’m frequently asked to give workshops or participate in panels on writing and editing; recent notable events I’ve participated in were organized by the Festival of Literary Diversity, BIPOC Writers Connect (the Writers’ Union of Canada), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and the Association of Canadian Publishers.

My previous work experience includes co-operative and transitional housing, teaching, front line crisis work, radio, and facilitation. I have a Master of Arts from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Education from University of British Columbia. I’m also certified through Simon Fraser University’s professional editing certification program, and I’m a member of Editors Canada.
